Basic Supplies
Additional Supplies
- Light box
-
Chalks
- Water based markers
-
Glitter for direct enhancing
-
Removable tape so you do not remove
fibers from
your paper when you remove the tape that you applied to
hold your brass template in place.
-
White core paper for embossing on colored backgrounds.
- Emery board
(thicker style) for sanding images on white core paper
to reveal design in white.
Technique
- Lay down your brass template face up on the right
side of your cardstock. Tape the template lightly to the
cardstock at the top to hold the template in place.
- Place the card and template face down on your light
box so the template is directly against the light box
over the lit area.
- Rub the surface facing you before you emboss with waxed
paper to enable your embossing tool to glide. (you will
be working
on the wrong side of your paper, or the back side)
- Trace around the outline of the template and the
outline of the design with the embossing tool.
- It
is very effective to use colored cardstock to emboss on. However, solid darker colored cardstock is
not appropriate because you cannot see through it to
emboss the image. You need to use white core cardstock.
After embossing, take a thick emery board and lay flat
on your project and "sand" to reveal the white core
which also defines your image with a white outline.
That is all there is to getting started. Some templates
are more diverse than others and we suggest starting with
the oval rose template as it has the oval outline, two
roses, a rose bud and bubbles. These outlines can all be
placed differently at random on your paper to create
different cards. You can create a gift tag just using the
bud and maybe some bubbles, very versatile. We would
suggest the Deluxe Beginner's Kit to get started and have
a lot of fun with a variety of options at your fingertips.
