Light Embossing :
Using a brass embossing stencil on suitable cardstock,
tape the brass embossing template to the right side of the
cardstock and lay it face down on a light source (Light
Box) so you can see the image of the template through the
paper. Proceed to rub the back surface of the paper with
wax paper and then trace the design with a metal stylus.
The waxed paper will allow your stylus to glide along. The paper is then
raised or lowered to show the design of the brass
template. You will need paper that has a white core or the
light will not show through. Using colored paper with
white core, it is very effective to rub an emery board
flat across the finished embossing which will result in
the top surface of the colored paper being sanded away and
reveal the white core to define the image. We carry a wide design selection of brass
embossing stencils from Lasting Impressions and
Dreamweaver Stencils for both card making and scrapbooking
projects.
Paste Embossing :
Special embossing paste can also be used with the brass
embossing templates to create a raised image. Embossing Paste is applied
over the brass embossing stencil and wiped back to leave the paste in the image areas only.
Embossing Paste is available in clear (translucent), pearl
translucent, opaque white, glossy white, blue, red, green,
matte black, yellow and orange and gold, silver and copper metallic colors. Free Design Gallery contains
many ideas and examples.
