These pastels are worked by applying on the stencil outline of the specific image you are working on and drawing the color across onto the parchment with a dampened finger. Very easy to use resulting in a lovely shaded image. We highly recommend you purchase the Stencilling with Pastels book and at least one of the stencils as the book contains instructions for the finished cards using all of these stencils. The stencil is then placed appropriately over the matching image in numeric sequence to complete the various tulip designs. The coloring is worked by applying a line of color around the stencil figure you are working on, laying it on top of the appropriate numbered pattern and with a slightly moistened fingertip, draw the color into the design area. It will automatically shade from darker on the outline to a softer color as you draw it across the parchment. Brilliant technique. Each section is worked individually following the numbered sequence. The detailed corner and edge design can be colored but is most effective when embossed for a lovely detailed border, with ease. The stencils come with working instructions but we would encourage you to purchase the book with full instructions and color templates to complete this and other template designs into finished cards.
