Iris Folding from Europe still tends to use a basic shape pattern, or a pre-cut die-cut, fold the light-weight paper, tape in behind the opening and mount on a card. The Iris Folded Greetings Cards book featured here this month is a great example of taking the next step and opening up a whole new world of iris folding where the actual folding is incorporated into theme designs. This book is by an artist from England with a great background in the paper arts.

If you take a close look at the iris folded cards below from Colleen Kenney, a guest artist on staff, you will see her elegant approach to iris folding which more often than not does not include folding at all but relies on interesting edges, ribbons, laces, sticker accents and the used of different papers which include card stock, scrapbook paper and rice paper.
