Description: Clever card designed by Colleen Kenney.
This card was paper layered on a square watercolor card. The top layer was punched in the corner for detail using the south west punch and further detailed with tiny sticker dots. The center layer had three circles punched out, overlapping each other. (1-1/4" punch).
The layers were color enhanced using the metallic rub-ons (gold). The card face was gently colored where it would be seen around the outer edge. The edge only of the top layer was rubbed and the face of the middle layer was rubbed heavier to result in a deeper gold.
Now work the paper folding (Iris Folding) pattern on the middle layer. Cut the strips of Origami paper and fold in half. We used one pattern in one direction about half way across and then finished the other half in a diagonal layering. The strips should be cut a good 1/5" wide, folded in half, and trimmed to fit behind the opening, taping securly in place with office tape. They need to lay flat and smooth with no unecessary bulk. There is no numbered sequence of folding for this card, it is very elegant and also a very simple concept. Start the folded strips from side to side across the two circles and work inwards finishing at the center. Then place the other patterned strips in place on a diagonal layering from side to side.
Tape or glue the layers of the card in place. *** NOTE: We did dry emboss an outline border around the surface of the top layer. A nice accent if you own suitable embossing templates.
